My name is Melissa A Benson owner of Ranting Centaur Studios. I am an Alternate Reality fantasy illustrator and Fine Artist with a colorful, realistic style. I work mostly with a mixed media of watercolor dyes, and color pencils. Black and white work is high contrast multi-weight graphite pencil. I also work in oil. Decorative and graphic designs are done digitally with Photoshop.

I specialize in anthropomorphic creatures and people in natural and historic settings. My recent work has been commissions for clients who want portraits of their role playing characters. I often incorporate Celtic designs and I design decorative graphics for the holidays.

I am best known in the gaming industry for creating powerful and imaginative illustrations for many top collectible card game (CCG) publishers. I have worked with Wizards of the Coast, White Wolf Publishing , Iron Crown Entertainment's, Black Dragon Press and Z-Man Games & others.
